Troop 780- The Boy Scouts of America have been molding future leaders of this country since 1910. Giving them the tools to strive to be more for their fellow man. Building character, learning a way of healthy living, serving others, practicing faith traditions, mentoring, and lifelong learning that continues long after their experience in the Boy Scouts. During this time, boys can also earn merit badges with more than 100 to choose from. A scout only needs to pick a subject that interests them and speaks with their leader. The leader will recommend a counselor that has special knowledge about the subject. After the requirements are met and have the counselor's approval, you will be issued your merit badge emblem.

Symbolism

When it comes to badges, renowned Boy Scout Badge and emblem holds meaning beyond an interest. It shows the true meaning of what it means to be a boy scout; responsibility, confidence, leadership, and values. There is meaning behind the detail of the design. The crest is the "Fleur-de-Lis," a lily, the emblem of peace and purity. The three points stand for the three parts of the Scout Oath:

On my honor I will do my best…

To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;

To help other people at all times

To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

The top resembles the North Point of a compass meaning a Scout can and will point the right way in life. The two stars symbolize truth and knowledge, and the eagle and shield stand for freedom and the Scouts readiness to defend that freedom. The scroll at the bottom with the motto “Be Prepared” is turned upside down as a reminder that the scout smiles as he does his duty. The knot underneath the scroll is a reminder of the Scout slogan, “Do a Good Turn Daily.”
