The troops gathered at a Lowe’s Home Improvement store and raised about $1,500 on Saturday and Sunday with their cookout and more donations are coming in. the money raised during this cookout is typically used for camping trips, but this time the money was used to help the community. “This is the future of the country here,” Troopmaster Bill Kanke said about his scouts. “We’re trying to teach them leadership skills but we’re also trying to teach them it’s not just about going out camping and having fun, it’s about giving back to the community, helping other people.” Boy scout Quinn Milligan said helping others is a core value of the boy scouts.“Basically it’s in our Scout Oath and Law to help other people at all times,” Milligan said. ...
